GAS DETECTION SYSTEM

Gas detection System is used mainly in Petrochemical, Refining, Power and Chemical industries for the Safety of Plant and Personnel. Two different type are used in general.

1.     Fixed Gas detection System – a number of gas detectors will be installed in various parts of the plant where there is a potentially hazardous or Fugitive gas emissions are expected. The Gas detector will sense if there is any leak and will alert the Security, Safety Departments and Operator Control room. Early warning is produced by way of Audio/Visual alarms so that people working around can assemble at safe area and Operator can take action to control/stop the leak. The gas detectors need to be calibrated every 3 months to ensure that they are working with highest reliability.

2.     Portable Gas Detectors are used for personnel protection. These are hand held units which shall be worn by people who are working in confined areas, hazardous areas and other possible plant areas where toxic gas emissions are expected. Operator can ensure that he is working safely before he start the job and also get any Audio/Visual/vibrating alarm while he is working. The Portable equipments are battery operated and are certified to use in Hazardous areas and concurred with International safety authorities like OSHA.
